Make sure that any sign of infection is gone before you start focusing on scar removal. Eyebrows, for example, prevent sweat dripping into our eyes and allow us to convey our emotions through facial expression. Even the individual tiny hairs on our arms and legs connect to equally tiny nerves and act as sensory organs, giving us a sense of pressure and vibration. They’re generally safe, but they can be full of ingredients that cause allergic reactions or irritation.

What happens if an infected ingrown hair goes untreated?

Curly hair has a higher chance of curving back toward the skin and becoming an ingrown hair. As a result, pseudofolliculitis on the face is most common in men of African descent who shave (Ogunbiyi, 2019). Of all women in the survey, no matter their race or ethnicity, nearly one-third reported experience with ingrown hairs (DeMaria, 2014). Incorporating a pubic hair exfoliant will help in stopping ingrown hairs in the pubic area. This is because exfoliating before shaving helps prepare the area for shaving by getting rid of dead skin cells, oils, and other bacteria.

The water-like consistency won't leave you feeling greasy, either. If they’re not infected, some ingrown hair cysts can go away on their own. If the pubic cyst is caused by ingrown hair, it may go away on its own, or your doctor can remove it.

Clean it well after you’ve finished, and change blades after five uses.

This could cause scarring, hyperpigmentation, serious health complications and more severe inflammation. So it’s important to follow a doctor or healthcare professional’s directions. Laser hair removal is a good way to get rid of ingrown hair because it destroys the underlying hair follicle. "People can't be as aggressive with their vulvar skin as they are with the skin on their arm, or their leg, or their elbow," she says. There's always a more permanent option if you're sick of having irritated skin from waxing or shaving. "Laser hair removal is the best option if you don't want to deal with ingrown hairs," says Karp.

But maybe you really want a clean sheen in-between, whether it’s just the bikini line or full deforestation. There are precautions you can take to minimize ingrown hairs. If you have sensitive skin, it’s best to avoid waxing, tweezing, depilatories, and even laser removal or electrolysis, which may be too harsh and cause long-term damage.

If an ingrown hair truly needs treatment, a healthcare provider will delicately use a sterilized needle to extract it from the skin. Some people are more prone to these pesky ingrown hairs than others, especially those with tight, curly hair. In this article, we’ll talk about what causes ingrown pubic hairs, what you can do if you have one (even if it’s infected!), and how to prevent them from happening.

Products containing benzoyl peroxide can reduce redness and help prevent secondary infections like true folliculitis. And because the hair doesn’t grow back after treatment, you won’t have to worry about ingrown hairs. Ingrown pubic hair presents a frequent and bothersome issue, yet it can often be effectively controlled with appropriate oversight and intervention. Simple home remedies like gentle exfoliation and warm compresses can provide relief, while more severe cases may require medical intervention. Practicing good grooming habits and getting professional help to prevent complications like infections or scarring is necessary. Technically, any type of hair removal—whether it's waxing, sugaring, or shaving—can result in ingrown hairs. However, it's most likely to be an issue with shaving since "shaving causes the tips of hairs to become sharp, which can prevent them from properly growing out of the skin," Shah says.

Applying sunscreen to keep the scar protected from the sun may help it fade more quickly. Sunscreen also helps reduce areas of red and brown discoloration. Keep that in mind if you're prone to getting those angry red bumps. If you go to a professional that uses sugaring paste, you'll have the best chance of avoiding hair growing back into the skin.

However, be careful when choosing eyebrow pencil because it may produce an unnaturally dark appearance. You don’t want the pencil to look too much like brown, as that may make your face look too harsh and unnatural. All of that said, some with natural blonde hair don’t always have blonde eyebrows. In fact, it’s pretty common to have light brown brows or brows with a reddish tint.

Sun exposure can lighten your hair color by breaking down the melanin in your hair, but it does not affect your eyebrows as much because they are protected by your forehead and eyelashes.

If you’re going to sport contrasting brows to your hair colour, your eyebrows must be in good nick. This means growing them out if they’re thin and incorrectly shaped, and filling them in on a daily basis to ensure this focal point is looking its best. But, as these striking celebs prove, blonde can look really good with dark eyebrows. There are several different types of eyebrow makeup to choose from, each giving a different effect.

A darker eyebrow pencil should also have the same undertones as the hair, to avoid looking monochromatic. A lot of people who have very dark eyebrows prefer to have black eyebrows bleached, because they have a tendency to look less unnatural. Some people have naturally dark eyebrows, and some of them have their eyebrows bleached, so that they have lighter shades. When matching eyebrows to hair color, choose a shade that complements your hair and skin tone.

You may need to lighten your eyebrows if your hair is light or red. However, if your hair is black, you should opt for darker eyebrows. Having darker eyebrows on a blonde is a great way to draw attention to her face and enhance her beauty. This trend has been around for a while, and many celebrities, including Chiara Ferragni, have done it. It’s an easy way to accentuate your eyes and give bleached blonde hair a more natural appeal.

Use the spoolie end of your eyebrow pencil to comb through your brows and create a seamless, blended look. To set the shape, brush a clear brow gel like the L’Oréal Paris Unbelieva-Brow Longwear Brow Topcoat, Waterproof Universal Transparent through your arches. Besides that, Hernandez says you can also look for a brow tint that is a shade or two lighter than your natural brow color to soften the look. If you're not sure what products you should get, this eyebrow kit is a great starter pack. If you’re worried about your eyebrows looking unnatural, you can get a microblading tattoo instead. Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure that uses a blade to insert cosmetic pigments into the dermis layer of your skin. It will last for up to a year, but it will gradually fade away, so touch-ups are a must. For those who are looking for something more permanent, paint-and-peel eyebrow kits have become popular on social media.

Cool redheads, on the other hand, can be coupled with brunette arches that are dark and rich. How to Rock Blonde Hair and Black Eyebrows with Confidence?

It seems that darker hair tends to look more natural with longer layers, while lighter hair tends to look more out of control with short layers. So it might be a good idea to keep a few shades of black around, so that you can change your style according to the change in seasons, and your mood. This could be true, but there are other reasons that I can think of to have slightly darker eyebrows, besides genetics. When black people get their hair colored, the color change will not last very long.

As for what color you should choose for your brow makeup, our answer is to always go with the color choice that you like best. Maybe that’s going for a darker blonde shade or maybe that’s going for a reddish shade to embrace your natural features. If your hair is light or dark-colored, you can make them darker by adding a shade or two of gray. If your hair is light-colored, a darker eyebrow color will make them look unappealing.

In addition to using a brow pencil, blondes can also use eyebrow gel to add definition to their brows. A combination of the two works well for blondes, as the gel will fill in the gaps and a pencil will add volume. One of the most popular brow gels is the Anastasia brow wiz, which will hold and define your brows for a longer and fuller look. Blondes with black eyebrows are able to have fun just as much as blondes with blonde hair. While the saying “blondes have all the fun” comes from the fact that blondes have a higher sexual appeal than brunettes, that doesn’t mean that blondes with black eyebrows have less fun. It just means that you can be as fun with your hair as you want.

We suggest the Chantecaille Full Brow Perfecting Gel to clean up and give shape to the brows without changing the color. If you have naturally blonde hair, then the answer is no, you should not be trying to dye your hair black. However, if your hair is really dark or if you happen to have very dark hair, then you may want to consider changing your hair color.

DARK BROW TIP FOR BLONDES #1: Keep your brows in tip-top shape

This is especially important if you have permanent hair dye, as they can singe hairs. Your eyebrows should be a shade or two lighter than your hair color, so that they complement your hair color. Don’t go too light or too dark, as matching them too closely can look fake.

Avoid brow tattoos

If there are any spots left uncolored, reapply locally if needed. If your hair is dark, opt for a lighter shade of brown for a natural look. On lighter skin, however, a lighter shade of brown may look too harsh.

Because my hair was lighter than it had ever been in my life, the color of my eyebrows was now off. The dark brows and blonde hair trend is most definitely a strikingly beautiful look — see Cara Delevingne for visual proof. But the difference between my roots and my brows was too stark for me, as makeup artist Eduardo Hernandez helped me realize. The amount and type of melanin in your hair and eyebrows is influenced by your genetics, your environment, and your lifestyle. Some people are born with blonde hair and black eyebrows because they inherit different genes for hair and eyebrow color from their parents.

In their spare time, they enjoy watching scary movies, putting avocado on everything, and seeing how many shades of the rainbow they can dye their hair before 30. Before deciding on a brow tattoo, decide on a style you’d like to have. It’s a good idea to bring some reference photos to your appointment so your artist can reference them. It’s also important to go to a reputable artist who works with clients throughout the entire process.

I just think blonde hair is so cute and would be unique in my family where everyone has dark hair. It would be difficult to find a career that required you to have completely flawless eyebrows. Keep your overall look soft by coloring your brows the same warm brunette shade that's on your head. Take Jessica Alba's full brows as a prime example of how to coordinate the two shades. Use the brow gel’s doe foot applicator to apply a small amount of product throughout your brows, focusing on any sparse areas.

Dark brown brows will look natural on people with light hair, while lighter brows will look unnatural on those with darker hair. Cool brow colors will be softer on your brows than warm or reddish hues. If you’re wondering why blondes have black eyebrows, think about the color of their hair. For the most part, natural blondes have dark eyebrows to match their hair color. But the rare platinum blondes, which are typically from Scandinavia, have platinum blonde hair throughout their entire body.

According to Porsche, titanium has even heat distribution, which makes for smooth, silky hair. "Titanium is ideal as a flat iron plate," agrees Kevin Hughes, celebrity stylist and artistic director for Moroccanoil. We also measure the outer surfaces of each iron to ensure that it doesn't get too hot to the touch. We log the temperature at three spots on every iron every ten seconds for ten minutes, resulting in 183 temperature measurements for each iron. Testers loved how comfortable it was to use, praising its soft-touch surface and comfortable grip. "The finger grip on the top is excellent and I liked how fast the flat iron straightened my hair." This straightener comes with a five-year warranty—the longest of all our flat iron picks.

Yup, this is something you'd definitely splurge on, save up for, or beg for from the person who loves you most, but it'll be worth it. This cordless/corded—you can do both—flat iron uses flexible copper plates that subtly move with your hair to evenly distribute heat across every strand, leaving you with less damage and smoother hair. Its design is innovative, which can sometimes have a tricky learning curve, but testers rated the manual as most easy to understand. The plates are nice and wide, at 1.5 inches, which can make styling long hair a lot faster (although those with shorter hair may find the extra-wide plates unwieldy).

While most flat irons are best when used on 1-inch sections of hair, I found that this iron’s broad plates offered extended surface area to cover bigger sections of hair. This allowed me to work faster to smooth my shoulder blade-length strands and tame frizz from roots to ends. The iron’s ceramic floating plates had an extremely smooth glide, and the plate’s beveled edges let me angle the iron as I moved it through my hair to create waves sans creases.

Titanium is a strong, durable metal best suited for professional salon use on coarse thick, curly and coily hair. These plates typically heat up the quickest and more evenly distribute heat compared to ceramic plates, which allows for fewer passes over the hair, a smoother finish and better results than a ceramic iron, says Foster. However, titanium can cause the most damage to your hair, so you should avoid these if you have fine or damaged hair, according to Hill. If you want a flat iron that will last you a long time, consider this option, which comes recommended by NBC Select editor Lindsay Schneider. “I’ve been straightening my hair since I was 10 and have only ever used two straighteners, including this one that I’ve owned for five years now,” she says.

I assessed how many passes each flat iron required to make my hair straight, smooth, shiny and free of frizz. I also checked how long the effects lasted, looking for frizz after 6 and 12 hours. Over a year later and this Chi straightener remains a powerful, easy-to-maneuver workhorse. The single heat setting easily reshapes my hair from unkempt to sleek and silky.

Which straightener is best for damaged hair?

She said that she blow-dries her hair on medium heat using a Dyson Airwrap attachment, flat irons it and uses “an old-school pressing comb” to straighten her curly hair. When I began working on the Best Hair Straighteners story, I sought out expert advice from Henry and Erin Bryant, master stylist and creative director of Whip Salon. I then tested 14 popular hair straighteners to separate the wheat from the chaff, or in this case, the must-haves from the mehs and just-oks. The Chi Original Ceramic Hairstyling Iron received top marks for its smoothing and straightening power and speed despite having a comparatively lower price tag than other high-performing models. Out of 14 extensively tested hair straighteners, this no-nonsense Chi model proved to be a standout for its ability to completely transform hair from coily and frizzy to silky and polished—fast. Specifically, it’s a winner because of its all-purpose plate size, even heat and frizz-fighting capabilities.

Chemical hair relaxers contain ingredients that are known to be endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). This can lead to a number of health risks, including reproductive cancers. We may earn commission from links on this page, but we only recommend products we love. For every hair type, budget, and preference (yeah, I really did that for you).

She also has an unhealthy adoration for Tom Hanks and would like to please meet him one day, if you could arrange that. You know when you try to curl your hair with a straightener, and you're left with creases, bumps, and snags? It's smoothly curved to allow you to clamp, twirl, and twist your hair without crimps, so your flat-iron waves and curls look genuinely good, not just good-for-a-flat-iron good. We know that trying to find a ceramic hair straightener can almost be a full-time job – especially when there are so many brands out there selling you different information about what ceramic straighteners actually do.

The GVP is still light enough to hold on a daily basis, and the iron’s other features, such as quality plates and a digital display, compensate for the added weight. The cord is 9 feet long, giving you plenty of space to plug it into an outlet that is located far away from a mirror. The straightener itself is 13 inches long, which we found to be the perfect length to wield while styling hair—and the plates are around 3.5 inches long, plenty sufficient to capture a good-size section of hair. All flat irons straighten and curl hair about the same, but the GVP Ceramic Titanium Digital Flat Iron stands out because it heats up quickly and is well-constructed enough to style hair without causing snags or dents. The GVP also includes features that are usually found on higher-end models, like a real-time digital display and accurate temperature, at a midrange price. Ceramic flat irons are excellent at straightening, smoothing, and adding shine at lower temps—but they can also take longer to heat up.

GHD Platinum+ Professional Performance Styler

We’re testing our current picks against a new group of hair straighteners. We’re testing flat irons from BaBylissPro, GHD, and Paul Mitchell, mini flat irons from Amika and BaBylissPro, and straightening brushes from Amika, Dafni, and Tymo, as well as hot combs from Andis and Gold N Hot. We’re also considering low- and no-heat straightening tools, such as Annie’s Classic Foam Rollers, Caruso’s Molecular Steam Hairsetter, and Remington’s Condition Hair Setter.

Most Efficient: BabylissPro Nano Titanium Prima3000 Stainless Steel Straightening Iron

It heats up in just over 60 seconds to a single heat setting of 380 degrees, which is hot enough to shape hair into super straight strands or perfectly imperfect flatiron waves. After decades of use, in 2022, a study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found a positive correlation between use of chemical hair straighteners and diagnoses of uterine cancer. People who used hair relaxers more than four times a year were more than twice as likely to develop uterine cancer as people who never used chemical straighteners. In 2023, a 25-year study was released that supported the connection between the use of chemical hair relaxers and uterine cancer. Winter is a great time to explore heat styles, be they flat-ironed looks or voluminous blowouts. Accordingly, you’re probably on the lookout for the next best hair straightener to take yours to the next level.

Improper use, like using a temperature too high for your hair type, can cause damage, according to our experts. “Hair is a fabric and, like any material, heat can deteriorate and break down the hair structure,” says Hill. The cuticle — the outer layer of a hair strand — can very easily become damaged by heat over 356 degrees Fahrenheit, experts told us. Damaging that cuticle layer will make your hair more porous, which means it will struggle to hold on to moisture, causing dryness and breakage. Jones-Muñoz calls this flat iron a “workhorse” and says he likes using it at his salon because of  its thick, durable plates.

“Ceramic irons take longer to heat up and they heat the hair from the inside, [while] titanium heats up immediately and heats the hair on the surface,” explains Parker. “Straightening hair from the inside is better than heating the hair shaft.” According to her, which option you should choose is based on your hair type and desired look. “If your hair is soft, smooth, and easy to flat iron, use ceramic, but if you have more stubborn, coarse hair, use titanium.” Essentially, titanium plates will heat faster and require fewer passes to achieve that pin-straight look. The best hair straightener will depend on your hair's thickness, texture, length, and condition.

“If you’re using it for a quick touch-up or once a month, then you could go with something that’s a little less expensive,” says Jones-Muñoz. More durable straighteners (like those with titanium plates) are on the pricier side, but they will be less likely to wear and chip with frequent use. In addition to the plate materials, our experts recommend looking at features like size of the plates and a digital display to monitor the temperature. “The heat transfer from titanium is intense, quick and, if used frequently or improperly, can create irreversible heat damage and breakage,” says Hill. She recommends leaving titanium to the professionals and touching up at home with a tourmaline or ceramic iron when needed. The now-discontinued Rusk Deepshine was slightly lighter—0.44 pound—than our runner-up pick, the Rusk W8less, which weighs half a pound.

The benefit of cordless straighteners is that you don’t have to be bound by proximity to an outlet or a cumbersome cord that gets in the way while styling. But typically, the drawback to cordless flat irons is that they have limited usage time on one charge (for instance, the GHD version has only 20 minutes and the Dyson Corrale has 30 minutes). The Lunata Cordless Styler Pro is the exception, providing up to 60 minutes of styling time on one charge—and it can be used while charging, unlike the GHD. I have long hair that can take extra time to smooth, and I sometimes apply makeup in between styling my hair, so I appreciate the extended charge and not having to rush. The unique shape of the rounded-edge barrel allowed me to create straight styles, loose waves or curls easily, without creases. Other nice-to-have features include a 360-degree swivel cord and universal voltage to allow for international use.

Thin, fragile, or damaged hair should stick with flat-irons with lower heat settings. But hair that’s coarse, curly, and thick will likely need an iron that heats to 400 degrees or higher. Over the years, we've tested more than 90 flat irons — and in our most recent Beauty Lab test, we tallied 2,013 heat data points and 960 survey responses. Based on our extensive testing, these are the top flat irons at all price points and for every hair type that make easy work of straightening your hair. Long hair that takes forever to straighten will appreciate an iron with extra-long and wide (like one-and-a-half or two-inch plates) plates that can fit larger sections of hair to cut down on styling time.

I love the service I get here every single time!!!!! I always get treated good and the food is always good! Customer service sucks at a lot of places these days but I know when I come here I’ll get treated good and that’s why I keep coming back.

Menu

Food was great except for the cheese fries which were cold. Only one employee wore a mask despite the sign stating masks required at the door. No safe distancing observed and only one way in and out. There is a customer that comes in here Erica Hollis she is so fine... Well, if u ever want to grab a beer, lmk. Miller Lite on the house.

Restaurant Description

Food and service were good. Place could use a little updating and maybe a hostess feels kind of awkward seating yourself. Paying at table via waitress would be nice as register line can be a bit long and a unwanted step after you have eaten your meal. Went here for lunch yesterday with a co worker, not my first time, but the first time I actually enjoyed something here. Spanakopita is my favorite and if you are in the mood for it they always have it on the menu. My co worker had the hot wings which looked good.

Only these guys can save Domino's pizza franchise. This is the best special meatlovers pizza, I've ever had, and the Souvlaki dishes are childhood memory worthy. Really authenic take on robust Grecian/Italian dishes and delicacies, that I promise you won't disappoint. Plus the menu prices will definitely please palates and wallets.

Love to get our favorite. Whether you eat at the restaurant of take out the food is delicious. Like one big family... Best pizza in town and all their food is great. Great service for our group of about 20 friends. The servings are ample and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal choice.

The chicken was doable. I just put the chicken on my salad for a chicken salad. This meal was to starchy with rice, bread, and crackers. The meal was not seasoned, was not worth $11.25. I will stick to my usual a super sub. Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network.

Looks small from the outside but inside is decently big. The staff was nice and the food was good. We only got pizza because we had kids with us but as we were leaving the waitress was taking someone a bacon cheeseburger and it looked great.

I got the chicken over rice. It came with side of salad, bread, and lance crackers. I didn't care for the rice, had no taste to it.

I come here probably at least every other week for the Steak & Cheese sub. This the only thing I order every time. The staff are all so friendly...its a family environment and a lot of locals eat here too.

I use to live in SC and I used to visit this restaurant very often. Now that I have moved, I make sure I visit them everytime I visit SC. The food is always fresh, hot and made to order.

You can visit them on a busy day and it still doesn't take long to get your food. I would recommend them to anyone. I will see them on my next visit to SC... We love going to LHOP as a family, alway great food and service. Ordered the lasagna...

My only complaint and why I gave only four stars was the service was a little lacking. Will be going back for the spanakopita again though. They have great cheese steak subsThe special is great ! The bread is always so perfectly crispyService is great quick turnaround.Great selection. Consistently on point. One of those great hole in the wall places. We have enjoyed both visits here.
